Pi Beta Phi 5K

This year the Pi Phi 5K was bigger and better than ever! With tons of families in town for Family Weekend, there was a lot excitement building up to Saturday morning. The men of Sigma Nu help plan and promote which led to more runners than we have had in the past.  Runners were welcomed at the Pi Phi Gate and shortly after lined up to start the race.  The band Goose and ASG President, Daniel McFarland, helped call the hogs to start off the 5K.  And then the runners were off!

As the runners finished the race they were able to listen to music from Goose, enter raffles, eat fruit and cool down with lots of water!  Goose made the atmosphere so enjoyable and every one seemed to have a lot of fun! Every year we have a book drive so that we can donate books to elementary schools and shelters throughout the Northwest Arkansas area. We were so thankful to have over 2,000 books donated from other chapters and alums.

Finally, we raised $53,900 for Pi Beta Phi Foundation Literacy Fund.  In the nine years we have held the 5K it is the most money that we have raised, and keeps growing every year. The 5K is such a joy to work and Arkansas Alpha’s favorite philanthropy event to hold!
