It has been yet another incredible
Spring for the members of Zeta Tau Alpha! This semester included some of our
largest annual philanthropy events, and the executive board was blown away by
how highly we exceeded our hopes and expectations for those.
One of ZTA’s biggest accomplishments
this Spring, was how much money we were able to raise for our most well-known
philanthropy event, “Call for a Cure.” ZTA’s national philanthropy is Breast
Cancer Awareness & Education. For this, every member was encouraged to
raise a minimum of one hundred dollars, by calling friends, family members, and
alumni to donate. As a chapter, we ended up raising $26,289.04. It was amazing
to see such a significant impact made in such a short period of time.
Earlier this year, Zeta Tau Alpha hosted our annual event “Kiss Away Cancer” day during the week of Valentine’s. Members handed out pink ribbons and Hershey kisses for a dollar donation. By the end of the third day, we raised almost four hundred dollars! This event is an incredible opportunity to share our philanthropy with the rest of campus. We ended up fundraising a total of $31,307.26 for the ZTA Foundation, and $2,612.9233 for other sororities’ philanthropies this semester. Great job, girls!
ZTA not only rallied to raise money, we
also formed a large effort toward the environment—winning 1st in
Sustainability over all Greek Life! Our in-house girls worked hard to implement
a recycling plan and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Other exciting things that took place
at 530 Oakland Avenue over the last five months include: getting second place
at Derby Days, hosting “Pilates for Pink” during Mom’s Weekend, and throwing a
Manicure Party for all 110 girls that earned a 4.0 GPA last semester.
Lastly, two ZTA sisters were elected
to serve on Panhellenic Council: Kayla Kochan, President; and Grace
Satterthwaite, Vice President of Judicial Affairs. Both women served on
Executive Council for the Epsilon Chapter in 2017, and it is an honor to have
them representing our chapter as a whole this year.
It has been a blessing to stand by
these amazing women’s sides all semester and watch as we continue to grow and
achieve. 2018, (and every other year), is a great year to be a ZTA!
See you in the fall, Zistas!
