Kappa Delta Shamrock

Kappa Delta is dedicated to providing support for our philanthropies, both national and local, year round. Our Zeta Gamma chapter used the recent Shamrock event to raise funds for Prevent Child Abuse America and the NWA Children’s Safety Center where 20% went to PCAA and the other 80% went to the CSC. Our Shamrock committee and VP of Community Service, Brogan Caffarelli, worked tirelessly to provide gorgeous decorations, great food, and a fun time for everyone willing to support us and the philanthropies that we care so much about!

This year’s Shamrock event was held on March 10th and April 8th of 2017. On March 10th we had our Shamrock dinner in the back lot of our house. The cookout had a fun photo-booth, burgers, ice cream, and a raffle. The dinner part of our event had about 500 people in attendance and raised $7,000. Shamrock also includes a dodge-ball tournament with involvement from other fraternities and sororities on campus. Since our original dodge-ball tournament was rained out, our shamrock event stretched a little farther than expected. This past Saturday, April 8th, we were joined at Wilson park by Beta, Sig Ep, and Fiji for our dodge-ball tournament. Kappa Delta was able to raise $1,000 at the tournament, and it was a fun time for all involved. Thankfully, the weather was on our side this time around!

Brogan, our VP Community Service, shared with me why she loves Shamrock, “Kappa Delta’s philanthropies all fall under our confidence coalition. I believe every girl struggles at some point with self confidence, so it is very easy to be passionate about our philanthropies. These two agencies fight against child abuse which hinders a child’s self esteem and confidence. It is special for us to donate to the Child Safety Center because some of our sisters have personally benefited from the center. I love the cause and it is very rewarding to see our hard work go back to the local community.”

This is actually the 20th year for our local philanthropy, the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Safety Center, so we were so excited to be able to celebrate by eating burgers, playing dodgeball, and raising money to support the great things they are doing for the children of our community!
