This semester was one for the books
for us! With our new house renovation on the horizon, we tried to make as many
memories as possible in the original big green house.
Dude, It’s for St. Jude
We had a semester
full of philanthropy events! In early March, we had our first ever “Why St.
Jude Week” with many themed days at the Union, such as Delta’s Candy Bar and
Delta Dunkin’ Doughnuts. Next, we held our main fundraiser for the semester,
DHOP, which was a huge success! The highlight of the semester was a trip to St.
Jude!! We left bright and early on Dead Day to drive to Memphis. Upon our
arrival, we were taken on a tour of the facility and were able to interact with
a few patients. Our last stop was on the Tri Delta Floor. This trip was such a
fun opportunity for our chapter!
Dancing Queens
Our performance chairs were very
busy this semester! Our first competition was Greek Sing in February, where we
performed a unique take on Mamma Mia with members of Sigma Chi, Farmhouse, and
Alpha Kappa Alpha! The group danced with the original songs from the musical,
but added an ancient Greek twist. The much-anticipated Derby Days was held in
April! Put on by Sigma Chi, this event consisted of field events, a blood
drive, and a dance competition. Our chapter’s best dancers performed a routine
with an iPhone theme, and we took
home the silver overall!
Bring the House Down!
In late April, our
chapter held our last “chapter wide” sleepover in our original house! We had
movies and snacks, but our main focus was filming a lip dub to “Bring the House
Down”. We showed this video to all of our visitors and alumnae at our
groundbreaking ceremony on April 29th! The rain held off long enough
to formally “break ground”. Chancellor Steinmetz even made an appearance!
Everyone is excited about the growth this new house will bring for our chapter!
It is set to be completed late July 2018.
One new function we held this year
was Stupid Cupid with the ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma! This event was formal
attire with a blind date premise— “Cupid” would set girls up with mystery
dates! It was a fun night filled with many pink and red dresses. In addition,
Tri Delta hosted our annual Stars & Crescent Formal at the Chancellor
Hotel. Despite the rain, our members got all dolled up, went to
dinner at several restaurants around the Northwest Arkansas area, and then hit
the dance floor! Some of us even referred to it as “College Prom!”
You Go Girls!
This has been such a great semester
for Delta Iota! Other highlights include our Spring 4.0 dinner, held by
Director of Academics, Emily Daniels. We were excited that our very own Emily
Varady was nominated as Panhellenic Scholastic Woman of the Month for February!
Finally, our seniors completed their collegiate membership in the Circle Degree
ceremony. We are so thankful for the impact they have had these past four
years!
